Re: Which internet provider to go for?

Depending which months you intend to be in Crete it might be worth asking Cosmote about their holiday package. Instead of paying for the whole year you only pay for a certain number of months. It was designed for people with holiday homes. I think it only allowed for a single period so it wouldn't w...

Re: Which internet provider to go for?

Wind do a 50 Mbps fibre internet package for €26 per month but I have no idea how they bill or if you can pay with card. Nova have a cheap 24 Mbps internet package for €15.75 per month if you are prepared to pay 12 months up front. I guess that would get round the billing and paying problems. No fre...

Re: Which internet provider to go for?

So that looks like Cosmote would fulfil Tsambi's requirements.

Re: Which internet provider to go for?

Is the card registered to your Greek address, Tim, or to a UK address? I have one debit card registered to a UK address, my son's house, and one to my Greek address.

Re: Which internet provider to go for?

Cosmote certainly do online billing. I simply get an email with the bill attached. You can then go to their payment page enter the payment code on the bill and it should take you to a page showing the amount owed. Tick the box accepting terms and conditions and click on "Submit". That take...

Re: IKTEO

I just checked with a friend who had his car tested recently. There is certainly a 7 day grace period. He thinks it is 7 calendar days not 7 working days. You definitely pay double if you are outside the grace period but he thinks there might be a fine on top, not sure how much. We cannot really fin...

Re: The system isn’t working

I don't regard it as a waste of time. I am not trying to convince the anti-vax posters. I am trying to provide other readers with accurate, data based information that demonstrates that what the anti-vaxers post is untrue. Otherwise they might garner converts. "Bad men need nothing more to comp...

Re: IKTEO

I think that there is normally a short grace period such as a week to ten days when no penalty applies. Because of the pandemic much longer delays were implemented, e.g. some months, but I am not sure exactly how they worked. For example the allowed delay might only apply while the IKTEOs were close...

Re: The system isn’t working

People should be aware that the anti-vax campaigns are not a few misguided individuals supported by a large number of others who simply believe what they are told. The anti-vax campaign is a multi-million dollar, multi-national industry. Those behind it are getting immensely rich on the backs of the...

Re: Help for expat with husband suffering from Alzheimer’s

Apart from reciprocal healthcare through an S1 Form the UK seems to have backed off from a lot of benefits for expats. It is quite difficult to get information from UK government web sites as they are highly focussed on how benefits apply to foreign nationals living in the UK, not UK nationals livin...

Re: Firefox Version 89.0

The folders lost colour on Thunderbird email client as well. Lots of beef about that on forums. I have mine set to open on a blank page rather than the home page. I have a search box next to the address bar which allows me several search options, not just Google. I find that Google search is slowly ...

Firefox Version 89.0

Anybody recently updated to the latest version of Firefox? Mine just did and it has changed the look in a way I certainly don't like. I have a lot of bookmarks so they are organised into folders on the bookmark tool bar, When you click on a folder you get a drop down list of all the bookmarks in tha...

Re: EU COXID-19 Vaccination Certificate

Tried yesterday but no luck, so will try again today. Do I just leave the passport slot blank as we don't have Greek passports and is my biometric card number the one staring with P or the one at the bottom right of the card? Thanks for any tips. The whole government web site infrastructure was dow...

Re: Visit of HMS Queen Elizabeth.

It is certainly difficult to get up-to-date information but as far as I can tell HMS Queen Elizabeth is still in Portsmouth. She certainly was in late May. It is true that she is supposed to lead a battle fleet for exercises in the eastern Mediterranean, which is presumably when she will visit Souda...
