Help needed with slippy shower tray

The apartment I live in is old so the shower tray is the old white porcelain type. I don't know whether it has got slippy over time or it is me getting less steady on my feet but I dread slipping and falling and being unable to seek help. There are several options on sale that say they eliminate sli...

Noisy workmen

Is it true that there is a few hours in the afternoon when you can't make noises? Recently, there has been a revival of house maintenance in this area. But the whole of Sunday afternoon, someone has been grinding metal. Very noisy. And someone else has been using a very noisy generator. I seem to re...

Oh dear. I meant it as a laugh but it has been taken seriously.

The Gig economy - what's that?

Yet again, it appears that there is a term in common use in certain populations that seems to be totally understood by them but has completely passed me by in its conception and definition. The term is "the gig economy". I was listening to the BBC's World Service at 5.00 am (what an amazin...

VLC Media Player gone Greek

I left a Greek friend using my computer to do his homework. Now VLC has changed to be in Greek from English. I can't use its help because that is in Greek as well! Any body any ideas?

Re: Biometric permits

Daughter went to police station on Souda Road today to get clarification and an appointment. She paid for mine and hers by card while she was there and came away with a list printed in Greek and English showing what docs are required. Maybe it helped that she speaks fluent Greek? Her comment was tha...

Re: Health Book Renewal

Got TAXISnet ID and password from accountant and followed Kilkis' advice. Slight hiccup with how i entered ID but then simple. However, the records show that the update occurred earlier with end of Feb next year as expiry date. Don't know who could have done that. Anyway, no more KEP and waiting now.

Re: Coffee brands

Tim, It's the automatic spell-checker that I should be more careful of! An old man trying to sound young using the modern term for a guy or gal (can I say that?) who serves you a cup of coffee.

Re: Coffee brands

I too use a cafetiere. Previously used a drip/filter machine but it's gold plated filter needed replacing and it would have been a very high cost. I started using ground coffee and, at first, it was good but gradually got worse: I am told that coffee is sensitive to air and temperature so, here it i...

Re: VPN recommendation please

Can someone help this old man with a fuddled brain? I have downloaded NordVPN and adopted the 2-year subscription. But what next? The email from NordVPN says " connect to a VPN server. " How do I do that? I usually use Chrome for internet stuff. The purpose of using a VPN was to be able to...

Re: Roll out of the vaccine in greece

Went to pharmacy and they did it all in a few minutes. In Chania, we have 2 centres. One is the hospital and they give appointments in a time frame i.e. not for a specific time; friend went on time and had to wait ages. The other is on the old hospital site and they give specific times. Friend went ...
